Dates: This event is planned to be run on May 13. If there is no wind or a northerly wind we try to run it on the 14th. Call (508)778-7105 early on the morning on race day for the notice or cancellation of the race, current weather forecast, and other pertinent information.
Events: This event is planned to be a downwind slalom distance race which will be run between Kalmus Beach and West Dennis Beach. The Pro and Longboard Divisions of the racing class will also go back UPWIND to the start.
Format: There will be two classes, Racing and Cruising. The racing class will race between the two beaches and will be scored in order of finish. The Racing class also has three divisions (Pro/Am/Longboard). The Pro and Longboard Divisions of the Racing Class will sail upwind to the start. The top 3 finishes in each division will score for trophys. The cruising class is a non-competitive class and is for anyone who wants to sail downwind from one beach to another. This class will not score or receive trophys.

On the course between the start beach and the finish beach there will be series of marks which the racing and cruising class will have to follow. These marks serve a couple of purposes, to keep sailors out of danger, keep the sailors together for safety reasons, and try to provide the best possible path given the wind direction.

There are two set marks, and the others may vary depending on the wind direction. One will be stationed off the point of Great Island, and the other will be off the point of Bird Sh!t Island. There will be one person stationed at Seagull Beach for emergencies. If a sailor breaksdown or wants to drop out, they must head towards this beach. A van will be waiting to transport you to the finish beach. This post will be clearly seen from the water by a BIG flag flying at this point.

Wind Minimum: There will be 10 mph wind minimum to promote planing for all.
Registration: Registration will be held at the start beach from 9:00-11:00am. For those who wish to utilize our gear transportation should meet at the finish beach at 9:00am. People who can get rides to the start beach and have someone to drive their vehicle to the finish beach should be dropped off at the start beach. Those who are alone and need a ride to the start beach should meet at the finish beach to have their gear loaded onto the truck and will ride in a van provided by the CCWA to the start beach.
Fees: The entry fee for this event will be:
RACING: $25 for CCWA members, $30 for non-CCWA members
CRUISING: $25 for CCWA members, $30 for non-CCWA members
KITESURFING: $25 for CCWA members, $30 for non-CCWA members
Restrictions: All participants must wear a dry or semi-dry suit, competently water start, and sail in harness to qualify to race or cruise. This is because water temperatures will be still in the mid 50F's, which is very cold. In addition, since we will be in the open ocean, the waves can be big so you should be competent windsurfer.
